A childhood guitar prodigy, Carlos first recorded
for White Tower Records in Milton Keynes in 1978, releasing a reggae
single in 1979 on Whinging Records. Studying in Portsmouth (1981-84)
he formed blues-jazz combo Blue Lights. After 4 years solo gigs, Carlos
joined Plan-it Duff, a blues-pop crossover outfit (1988-89). Moving
to Brighton in 1990, he formed Poor Mans Prison (1990-95) which had
a popular slide guitar blues-rock vibe. This band played the UK blues
circuit intensively (~450 gigs in 6 years) releasing 3 albums 'Whisky,
wine and gin-head women' (1990), 'Justice blues' ('92) and 'Killing
floor' ('94). He then founded The Blackjacks ('96-2001), moving to a
swing-oriented good-time R&B sound, releasing an album (What's the Deal?)
in 1999. He's backed and played support to a huge variety of musicians
including Johnny Mars, Big Joe Louis, Micky Hart, Wild Willy Barratt,
Sonny Black, Nine Below Zero, Vinny Reed, and the Levellers.
